The original: Hershey's 5-Minute Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • * 1 cup boiling water.

Method

350°/ 30-35 minutes ^layers^

35-40, 9x13 pan

Mix dry ingredients. Add wet, all except water. Beat 2 minutes on medium. Add water (will be thin). Pour into greased/floured pans. Bake. Cool 10 minutes rack ^in pans^, on rack.

Note: No unit is written for the oil; Hershey's own version of this recipe uses 1/2 cup.
